The PEMFC represents one of the most promising technologies in the field of fuel cells. One of the keys to the success of the PEMFC technology is the development of improved electrolyte membrane materials which can be produced in mass and can operate within a temperature range of 130-200ºC. The ZEOCELL project will develop a nanostructured electrolyte membrane based on a new composite multifunctional material consisting of the combination of 3 materials: zeolites, ionic liquids and polymers -integrating their beneficial characteristics. The membrane will have an innovative structure comprising a 2D polymer matrix and two zeolite layers, with the following properties: - High ionic conductivity: ≥100 mS/cm at 150ºC.; - Suitability for operating at temperatures between 130-200ºC; - Good chemical, mechanical and thermal stability up to 200ºC; - Durability (<1% performance degradation during the first 1000 hours working); - Low fuel cross-over (

Subjects for the invention are to provide a zeolite reduced in performance deterioration in repetitions of use or during long-term use and a process for producing the same and to provide an adsorbent comprising the zeolite and a heat utilization system or the like employing the adsorbent. The invention relates to a zeolite which has a framework density of from 10 T/nm 3 to 16 T/nm 3 and a carbon content of from 1% by weight to 6% by weight and satisfies the following (1) or (2): (1) the zeolite is an aluminophosphate which has a nitrogen content of from 0.5% by weight to 12% by weight and in which the aluminum may be partly replaced by Me; (2) the zeolite is a silicoaluminophosphate in which the aluminum may be partly replaced by Me and which, when burned to a carbon content lower than 0.3% by weight, retains the framework structure possessed by the silicoaluminophosphate before the burning: (provided that Me in (1) and (2) above is at least one element selected from the elements in Groups 2A, 7A, 8, 1B, and 2B of the periodic table).

A zeolite which has a framework density of 10 to 16 T/nm<3> and a carbon content of 1 to 6 wt %, and satisfies the following (1) and (2): (1) it is an aluminophosphate wherein it has a nitrogen content of 0.5 to 12 wt % and wherein a part of aluminum is optionally substituted with Me, and (2) it is an silicoaluminophosphate wherein a part of aluminum is optionally substituted with Me and wherein when said silicoaluminophosphate is fired into a product having a carbon content of less than 0.3 wt %, the skeleton structure before the firing is retained, where in the above (1) and (2) the Me is at least one element selected from the elements belonging to 2A, 7A, 8, 1B and 2B Groups of the Periodic Table; a method for producing the zeolite; an adsorbent comprising the zeolite; and a heat utilization system or the like using the adsorbent. The scientific objective of this proposal is to incorporate luminescent organoboron functionality into PFS-based block copolymers. In doing so, functional nanostructures will be created by crystallization-driven self-assembly, and their potential applications in nanoscale display technology, bioimaging, and biodiagnostics will be investigated. The exceptionally talented applicant, Dr. Hudson, has extensive experience in organoboron chemistry, luminescent materials chemistry and displays from his Ph.D. in Canada. The Manners group in the UK has well-known internationally-leading expertise in polymer and materials science, block copolymers, and crystallization-driven self-assembly. Thus, the experiences of Dr. Hudson and the Manners group are fully complementary and both are essential for the proposed research to succeed. At the end of the proposed 2 year fellowship period Dr. Hudson aims to return to Canada to a faculty position at a top research-intensive University.
